Luís de Camões

Portuguese poet, considered one of the greatest Portuguese literary figures. He must have received a solid education in the classics, learning Latin and knowing the literature and the ancient and modern history. He attended the court of D. João III, where he began his career as a poet. From his extensive literary production, the work "Os Lusíadas" [The Lusiads] is written under the influences of Renaissance Humanism. He became a Portuguese language reformr and a symbol of national identity.
