Six centuries of artistic creation
1908-1992 Portugal
By the 1960s, Vieira da Silva was already an established artist nationally and internationally, with a highly conceptually independent body of work. "L’aube chromatique" shows her interest in understanding space in its structural complexity and relationship with light, a theme she permanently researched in her painting. The chromatic vibrations are translated into an irregular, dense and luminous, atmospheric, infinite grid, devoid of defined geometric lines. The mesh of hundreds of shades of white, the yellow and orange notes in horizontal brush strokes, the thickest or most diluted palette, combine in an absolute balance in their own unmistakable pictorial grammar.
